What can I say, either you've watched or you haven't. If for some reason you haven't even heard of it, well then... it's about zombies. Gross, rancid, terrifying, flesh eating zombies. Old zombies, young zombies, fast zombies, slow zombies, zombies, zombies, zombies. But really it's about the people, the survivors, living in this frightening undead world. The zombie genre has been done to death, particularly in the last decade, thanks and no thanks to original creator George A. Romero who is out of control, for the love of god stop! However The Walking Dead actually manages to not only revive the franchise (nice pun) but make for a show that is more than just blood and guts -- though there is no shortage of that. This is largely due to the excellent writing staff headed by Frank Darabont (The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, The Mist) and the incredible cast led by Andrew Lincoln and Jon Bernthal. Unfortunately Darabont has left the show and despite the grumblings of some viewers, I think the show is still one of the best things on right now. It's definitely not for the squeamish, there is some nasty rotten stuff in it. Dead bodies are gross. Dead bodies that eat other dead bodies... well you get the idea. But, this show is really no less dramatic than Dexter or Breaking Bad or any of the other excellent series that HBO, Showtime and AMC are producing. Zombie fan or not you will get hooked.
The first season is only six episodes, the second has seven so far with new episodes coming back on February 12th. There is plenty of time to catch up. Don't miss out.
